the butter battle book compare/contrast

Dr. Seuss' "The Butter Battle Book" is very comparable and similar to events during the Cold War. In the butter book the two sides dont like eachother because one side butters their bread butterside up and the other side butters their bread butter side down. The idea of hating eachother over the side of buttered bread can be compared to the sides during the cold war hating eachother because pf support for communism or not. A major comparison between the cold war and the book is the idea of an arms race during the cold war. An arm race is when the countries tried to out-do the other country with machinary and weapontry. In the book each side does the same thing, they keep making bigger and better weapons until the weapons are just crazy amazing. Both the war and the book also end in a stalemate.

George F. kennan

Kennan belives that the United States is clearly a more dominant nation over the Soviet Union. Also he mentions that the Soviet Union is "a rival, not a partener". Politically the United States and the soviet Union are enemies. Also, although the Soviet Union is weak the United States can not eliminate or stop communism alone. He belives that the United States have the power to make the spread of communism very difficult, because they are such a strong nation, but they can not stop the spread alone.
